As 2025 draws to a close and the Christmas break approaches, the Bio2Foam team looks back on an exciting and productive year of research. Over the past months, the project has reached several key milestones—pushing forward to make Bio2Foam a lighthouse project for Queensland–German research collaboration in the field of bioeconomy—advancing sustainable biomass valorisation and bio-based plastic development.

Key milestones reached in 2025:

Delegation visits VAUDE and Grammer production and development facilities
German delegation visits entire biomass valorisation value chain in Australia
Representation of Bio2Foam at several scientific events, highlighted by a panel discussion at the GermanWeek in Brisbane
First Life cycle assessments of process steps
First shipment of crude bio-oil to Germany and first production of bio-based foam by Grammer

These achievements were only possible thanks to the dedication and expertise of everyone involved. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all partners, supporters and funding bodies who have contributed to a successful project year.
